Our Aims

Our aim this year as in any other year is to raise as much money for our various charities as we can reasonably expect to do. As in previous years, the Rotary Club of Chigwell donate every penny we raise to those people who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Some years ago Rotary International decided with the help of all the Rotary Clubs in the world to eradicate Polio completely WORLD WIDE.  Polio is probably one of the most crippling of diseases in children and young adults.

Rotary launched a campaign to immunize every child in the world against this terrible disease by it's centenary year 2005, and in the 1980's the 'Polio Plus' plan was launched, and the badge you see here depicts this feat.  Rotary's work on this project will not finish until total eradication has been achieved.

There are now just 4 countries on this planet where polio is still prevalent, and with the help of funds raised by Rotary Clubs, Polio will soon be a thing of the past.
